- "The morning sun was still low in the sky; it was cold and cheerless, casting long shadows over the thinly snow crusted ground(pg 78).- Setting, it was describing the setting.
- "The baby stopped crying for a moment , stuck its finger in its mouth, and looked questioningly up at Burton"(pg. 92)- Foreshadowing, it's focusing on the baby more after Stone says he's a survivor.
After Stone and Burton lending to the town they made a discover that people of the people of the town instantly dying or committing suicide. Both question why it was happening. As they left the town, they brought along the satellite, a baby, and an old man.
