- Jittery(pg. 10)- adj. extremely tense and nervous.
- Torrent(pg. 14)- noun. a violent or overwhelming flow.
- "It was quiet: no lights, no activity,no sound carried by the gentle wind"(pg 4).- Ominous, because you can see that something bad is gonna occur.
- "...and felt a shudder as the plane sank, sickeningly, like a stone..." (pg. 21)- Simile, it is comparing how the plane is falling down like a stone dropping.
Manchek and a crew of men were to watch over a town with a low population. Through the first three chapters there has been foreshadowing of bad things to happen and one is finding corpse town lying everywhere in town.
