  • The author describes the setting very detailed.
  • The actions of the characters are also detailed to the point you could see the detail itself.
  • The conversation between the characters seem to be kept short so it can go straight to the point.
  • I could picture myself in a theater watching a movie base on the book.
  • I think if other reads this, they too would visualize everything clearly.
4 Questions
  • What is the town that Shawn was looking into?
  • What is Shawn and Crane looking for?
  • What does "kind of peaceful, but dead means"means?
  • Why would they call biology "retard child" when life revolves around it?
3 Vocabulary
  • Parlance(pg. 5)-noun. talk.
  • Jittery(pg. 10)- adj. extremely tense and nervous.
  • Torrent(pg. 14)- noun. a violent or overwhelming flow.
2 Literally Devices
  • "It was quiet: no lights, no activity,no sound carried by the gentle wind"(pg 4).- Ominous, because you can see that something bad is gonna occur.
  • "...and felt a shudder as the plane sank, sickeningly, like a stone..." (pg. 21)- Simile, it is comparing how the plane is falling down like a stone dropping.
Summary
Manchek and a crew of men were to watch over a town with a low population. Through the first three chapters there has been foreshadowing of bad things to happen and one is finding corpse town lying everywhere in town.
